Content Management

Individuals

Individuals represent your animals — dogs, cats, horses, or goats — and each one gets its own profile page. These pages can display images, pedigrees, health details, show results, and more.

Info

Individuals can be published publicly, or kept as “Pedigree only” to appear in pedigrees without a visible profile page.

Individual page in Breedpost app.

Status

Choose the status for the individual:

  • Published – Profile page is visible on your website.
  • Pedigree – Included in pedigrees only, no public profile page.

Hero Image

Upload or select an image to represent the individual.

Page Design

Choose how the hero image is displayed:

  • Large Centered – Best for high-resolution images. Image fills the width for strong impact.
  • Small Centered – Better for smaller/older photos with lower resolution.
  • Side by Side – Image on the left, content on the right. Good when both are equally important.

Pedigree Name

Required field. The pedigree name acts as the page heading (H1).

Tip
If you are not using pedigree names, enter the call name here. Leave the Call Name field blank to avoid duplication.

URL Segment

Choose a segment (category) for structured URLs.
Example: mydomain.com/our-pugs/

URL Slug

Add the URL slug, usually the pedigree name in URL-friendly format.
Example: mydomain.com/our-pugs/fred-the-champion-pug

Tip
Use descriptive slugs for SEO, e.g. champion-pug-fred instead of just fred.

General Information

  • Gender – Male or female.
  • Call Name – Everyday name.
  • Title Prefix / Title Suffix – Optional (e.g. CH, BIS).
  • Coat Type – Optional.
  • Summary – Short description shown on listing pages (used if Content is blank).

Content

Use the text editor to add detailed content, stories, or notes about the individual.

Dates

  • Date of Birth – Records age and generation.
  • Date of Death – Optional, records lifespan.

Owner / Breeder

Select or add the owner and breeder.

Upload or select images for a gallery. Opens in a lightbox with captions.

Tip

Image titles are used as captions and alt text. Include the individual’s pedigree name in the image title for SEO.

Documents

Upload files (e.g. certificates, health results). Document titles become the visible link text.

Parents

  • Father – Select an existing sire or create a new one.
  • Mother – Select an existing dam or create a new one.

Tip

Always check for existing entries first to avoid duplicates. When creating new parents, fill in the minimum required fields: Status, Pedigree Name, URL Segment, URL Slug, and Gender.

Pedigree Publishing

Options for displaying the pedigree on the profile page:

  • Publish Pedigree – Show pedigree on the page.
  • Generations – Choose 3 or 4 generations.
  • Display Thumbnails – Show images in the pedigree.
  • Display Coat – Show coat information.
  • Extra Pedigree Information – Add health tests or other details.

Tip

Keep pedigree information concise for readability. Too much text can clutter the page.

Progeny

Descendants are listed automatically based on database links.

  • Drag and drop to reorder.
  • Save the page to confirm changes.

Show Results

Add and display achievements for the individual.

  • Add Results – Enter event name and date.
  • Reorder Results – Drag and drop.
  • Save – Save changes in the drawer and again on the page.

Tips for Individuals

  • Use high-quality images for hero and gallery.
  • Always check for existing animals before creating new ones to avoid duplicates.
  • Keep the pedigree and progeny accurate — this ensures automatic links work correctly.
  • Use descriptive slugs and consistent titles for better SEO.
