Content & Structure

Breedpost is designed to simplify the process of managing your website by separating what you say (your content) from how it looks (your structure). This makes your site easier to update, more consistent, and more powerful as it grows.

Collections = Content

Breedpost uses structured collections—like Individuals, Breedings, and Articles—to store your actual content.

  • Individuals are your animals (dogs, cats, horses, goats—whatever you breed).

  • Breedings link a sire and dam, with timelines, litter info, and galleries.

  • Articles are blog-style updates or educational posts.

  • Pages contain general content like your About page or Contact page.

Each piece of content lives in its own place, with fields for names, images, pedigrees, descriptions, and more.

Pages = Structure

While your content lives in collections, your site is built using pages that are structured with flexible building blocks.

  • A Home or Page entry defines a public-facing page.

  • Inside that page, you add blocks like banners, galleries, testimonials, lists, or text/image sections.

  • Each block controls how content appears, not what it is.

Think of blocks as layout tools, not content editors. They pull from the content you’ve already added and display it beautifully on your site.

Connecting Content to Structure

You don’t need to copy and paste anything.

For example:

  • Add a Gallery block to a page, and choose your images.

  • Add an Individuals List block, and it can automatically show your published dogs, cats, or horses.

  • Add a Breedings List block, and it will show your upcoming litters with links to their dedicated pages.

Content is reusable and dynamic—update an individual’s photo or title, and it updates wherever they’re shown.
